Smart Coils condition copper pairs for deployment of both ADSL (data) and toll-quality voice services on the same line. Designed and manufactured for reliable performance in severe environmental conditions Install in the same form factors as common load coils, allowing technicians to easily swap-out common load coil cases with Smart Coil cases 66 mH and 88 mH equivalent inductance Available for aerial, underground and buried applications Exceed applicable Telcordia and RUS standards Smart Coils are a next-generation passive line conditioner designed to enhance POTS traffic on long loops while passing ADSL transparently. Without Smart Coils, the accepted length for maximum ADSL deployment with voice is generally given as 18Kft. ADSL can be transmitted further than 18Kft., but it is not practical to do so on copper pairs also servicing customers with POTS (voice) service. This is because ADSL deployment requires the removal of common load coils, and voice quality deteriorates too dramatically on unloaded lines beyond 18Kft. Therefore, service providers must either deny ADSL services to customers over 18Kft. or provide service by dedicating a second, unloaded line to the customer. With Smart Coils, customers can receive ADSL services over the same copper pair that currently transports their POTS service, even beyond 18Kft. Smart Coils provide all the voice quality enhancement of a common load coil, yet are transparent to ADSL. By using Smart Coils in place of common load coils, service providers can immediately and cost-effectively deliver broadband services over a wider coverage area. Waiting list and previously disqualified customers become instant sources of new revenue when Smart Coils are placed on their phone line.
